1. Eternal Plan Before Creation

These texts show salvation was planned before time, not improvised after the Fall.

  • Ephesians 1:3–6, 11
The Father chose a people in Christ before the foundation of the world and predestined them according to His will.
  • 2 Timothy 1:9
Grace was given to us in Christ Jesus before the ages began.
  • Titus 1:2
God promised eternal life before time began.

➡️ These imply an eternal purpose centered on Christ, requiring agreement within the Godhead.

2. The Father Gives a People to the Son

These passages show the Father entrusting a people to the Son.

  • John 6:37–39
“All that the Father gives me will come to me… I should lose nothing of all that he has given me.”
  • John 10:27–29
The sheep belong to the Father and are given to the Son, who secures them eternally.
  • John 17:2, 6, 9, 24
Repeated emphasis: “those whom you have given me.”

➡️ A giving implies prior intention and agreement.

3. The Son Voluntarily Accepts the Mission

These texts show Christ willingly undertaking the work of redemption.

  • Psalm 40:6–8 (applied to Christ in Hebrews 10)
“I delight to do your will, O my God.”
  • John 4:34
Jesus’ mission is to do the will of Him who sent Him.
  • John 10:17–18
Christ lays down His life by His own authority, in obedience to the Father.
  • Hebrews 10:5–10
Christ comes into the world saying, “I have come to do your will.”

➡️ Obedience presupposes a commission.

4. The Father Promises Reward and Exaltation

These passages show the Father rewarding the Son for His obedience.

  • Isaiah 53:10–12
The Servant suffers, yet “shall see his offspring” and be exalted.
  • Philippians 2:8–11
Because Christ obeyed unto death, God highly exalted Him.
  • John 17:4–5
Jesus asks to be glorified, having completed the work given to Him.

➡️ Reward follows fulfilled obligation—covenantal logic.

5. The Spirit Applies the Son’s Work

These texts show the Spirit executing the plan in history.

  • John 14:16–17, 26
The Father sends the Spirit in Christ’s name.
  • John 15:26
The Spirit proceeds from the Father to bear witness to the Son.
  • John 16:13–15
The Spirit glorifies Christ by applying His work.
  • Titus 3:5–6
Salvation is applied by the Holy Spirit, poured out through Jesus Christ.

➡️ The Spirit acts in coordination, not independently.

6. Explicit Trinitarian Coordination in Salvation

  • 1 Peter 1:1–2
Chosen by the Father, sanctified by the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ.
  • Hebrews 13:20–21
The Father raises Christ and equips believers through the blood of the eternal covenant (often cited as a key summary text).
